How to Access
If delegates take the train to Wuhan, please get off at Wuchang Railway Station, which is one of the biggest and most important railway stations in China. Delegates could take taxis to the hotel and venue. Standard taxi rates are 3 CNY for 1 km, 5 CNY for 2 km, 8 CNY for 3 km, then 1.4 CNY for each additional kilometer up to 7 km. After reaching your destination, you should pay additional 0.5 CNY for oil tax for the taxi driver besides the total fee displayed on the arithmometer. Please show the taxi driver one of the following ‘notes to taxi drivers’ when taking a taxi to your hotel or to the venue.
Wuhan has good air and rail connections. There are frequent daily domestic flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and many other cities in China. Wuhan airport (Tianhe airport) is about 40 km north of the city. There will be volunteers of the congress to help you taking taxi at the airport on Oct. 25-26, 2008. It costs about 120 RMB and approx. 60-90 minutes from the airport to official congress hotels by taxi.


Drinking Water
It is recommended to drink bottled water or boiled water in China.

The electrical output in Wuhan is 220 V, 50 HZ.
Medical care
The are three large hospitals located around the congress venue, Zhongnan Hospital, Huazhong Hospital and Wuhan Medical Care Hospital for Women and Children. All three of them rank in the highest grade hospitals according to Chinese iatrical system. The first two hospitals are marked on the sketch map of the venue; the third hospital is near to the Huazhong Hospital within 10-min on foot. Currency
The Chinese Yuan (CNY, RMB) is the currency in China. The official exchange rate of USD to RMB on Dec. 1 2007 is 7.4 (subject to fluctuation). Most foreign currencies can be changed at banks, hotel and money exchangers. Major credit cards are accepted. Wuhan, the largest city in central China with a history of 3500 years, is the capital of Hubei province and home to 8 million people. It is also a transportation hub in China by railway, water and air and thus has very convenient transportation conditions. In Wuhan City, there are some famous tourist resorts, such as the Hubei Provincial Museum, the only provincial comprehensive museum in the province. The museum collects, protects, and exhibits over 200,000 cultural items, including the world-renowned Chime Bell of Zeng Houyi which date from 433 B.C. Enjoying the fame of ‘The First Scenery under Heaven', the Yellow Crane Tower is one of the most renowned towers south of the Yangtze River. Its cultural significance led to its being made the symbol of Wuhan City. In Hubei Province, there are also some famous tourist resorts, such as the Yangtze Three Gorges, Shennongjia and Wudang Mountain. Many famous cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi’an, Guilin, Hangzhou, Kunming and so on, can be reached within one or two hours by air. Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and Lhasa, capital of Tibet, also can be reached by air.
Climate
Wuhan belongs to the north sub-tropical monsoon zone featuring four distinctive seasons. Temperatures in Wuhan show large seasonal variation, reaching as high as 40 °C in July and dropping as low as -10 °C in January. October and November are part of Wuhan’s golden autumn and are characterized in pleasant sunny days. For these two months, the monthly average temperature is 11-17.5 °C, the highest temperature is 16-23 °C, the lowest 7-13 °C, and the average rainfall is 152-178 mm.
